Please tell us a bit about yourself and where you’re from.

I grew up in the bustling city of New York, where the vibrant arts scene always fascinated me. From a young age, I had a deep passion for creativity and expression, which eventually led me to pursue a career in the arts. I completed my Fashion Design education at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Then, I began my journey as an artist.

In 2004, I ventured into event decorations and installation art, where I found my true calling. It was an exciting time for me. I discovered a medium that let me blend my love for design with my desire to make immersive experiences for people.

Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to honing my craft and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in event decoration. Each project has been a learning experience, like every NephilNine installation, shaping me into the artist I am today. I design stages for music festivals. I also transform venues for private events. I pour my heart and soul into every piece of art I create. And I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my passion with the world.

What made you interested in the Art Deco style? Why do you like it?

The Art Deco style’s boldness and elegance have always intrigued me. It blends shapes and rich materials, creating a captivating look that resonates with my art sense. I’m drawn to its timeless allure, which combines modernity with classic elegance. This makes it a constant source of inspiration in my work.

How do you come up with ideas for your projects?

My creative process often begins with delving into the realms of fantasy and science fiction that captivated me as a child. Drawing from these vivid imaginings, I seek to craft immersive environments that evoke a sense of wonder and adventure. I infuse my projects with surrealism and otherworldly aesthetics. I aim to transport people to a realm where the boundaries of reality blur, if only for a fleeting moment.

What are some highlight projects you’ve worked on before? Any challenges you faced?

I’ve had the privilege of collaborating on diverse and exciting projects. They transformed underground dance parties into immersive experiences. They also enhanced the ambiance of major music festivals like Big Dub, Dreamscape, and Nightmare. Each effort has been a journey of creativity and innovation. Every project has unique challenges. They may be logistical or creative. Overcoming these hurdles fuels my passion for pushing artistic boundaries.

It’s gratifying to see hard work and creativity pay off. They create unforgettable experiences for event-goers around the globe.

What kinds of events have you decorated for?

I’ve decorated many events, from small private ceremonies to big festivals. I transform cozy indoor spaces into whimsical wonderlands for weddings and adorn outdoor venues with captivating installations for music festivals. I aim to create environments that leave a lasting impression on attendees. My goal is to improve the atmosphere and elevate the overall experience. This is true for events of any size or setting.

Art Deco is known for its bold shapes and fancy materials. How do you use these in your work?

Incorporating Art Deco elements into my work involves carefully balancing bold shapes and luxurious materials. I often use stretched spandex forms, a dynamic and versatile canvas for creating captivating visuals. I use 3-D UV sculptures. I also use large-scale string NephilNine installations, which add depth and dimension to my designs.

I will layer-cut fabric shapes and strategically place them within the space. I aim to create an immersive environment that captivates the eye and plays well with light and movement. The result is visually stunning. It envelops performers and participants, taking them into art and wonder.

Have you worked with others on projects? How did it go?

Collaboration is at the heart of my creative process. I’ve been lucky to collaborate with diverse people and groups on my projects. I have worked with other artists, designers, and event organizers. They have enriched my creative journey, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. Through these collaborations, I’ve seen the power of collective creativity. I’ve seen the energy that emerges when different talents unite toward a shared vision.

Each partnership has been a learning experience. It has helped us grow and added depth and richness to my work. We’ve faced challenges and celebrated successes together. We’ve also formed lasting connections. They still inspire and fuel my art.
