Can you describe your journey as a record label and agency? How did it all start?
Our journey started in 2001 when we began organizing small parties featuring different types of electronic music. These early events allowed us to try various styles and connect with fellow music lovers who shared our passion. As our parties gained popularity, we realized our love for psytrance, a genre that stood out.
As time passed, we shifted our focus from events to establishing Dacru Records as a fully-fledged record label. This change was fuelled by our desire to support and champion the artists we admired. By creating our label, we could give these artists a bigger platform. It would help them reach a larger audience and gain more recognition in the psytrance community.
What inspired you to focus on Psytrance music of all genres?
We got into psytrance because we love it! Psytrance isn’t just music; it’s a culture that brings people together. We’re hooked on its lively beats, intricate rhythms, and how it takes you on a journey in your mind. What’s unique about the psytrance scene is its welcoming and cheerful nature. It’s like a big family where everyone’s included.
We’ve been to psytrance events and felt this fantastic vibe where people from all backgrounds come together to enjoy music, art, and life. That feeling and how psytrance music can change your outlook inspired us to focus all our energy on this genre.

What qualities are you looking for in artists nowadays?
We love melodic, full-on psytrance, but we’re open to other positive and psychedelic music, too. When we’re looking for artists to work with, we want them to be creative, original, and able to make music that tells a story and feels timeless. Good production skills are essential, but what matters to us is the emotion and artistry that make each track unique.
As a record label, our artists must share our passion for psytrance and care about making top-quality music. We want artists who are not only talented but also dedicated to their craft and ready to push the boundaries of the genre. By creating a supportive environment, we help our artists find their style and reach their goals.
How do you stay updated with the latest trends in this genre?

The scene is constantly changing, which is what makes it so cool. We’d like to see more support for new artists. By giving them more chances to show what they’ve got, we can keep the psytrance scene growing and bring in new ideas. Having different kinds of music and events keeps the genre exciting for old fans and people just getting into it.
How did Dacru’s famous psy events in Belgium get started?
For the first decade, we began with smaller events. We gradually grew to host major events like Organic Dreams and Tribal Roots. These events have great lineups. They are among Belgium’s largest indoor gatherings. They draw a loyal following and build our reputation in the psytrance community.
Our outdoor event, Nova’s Incident, was a highlight. But venue challenges have stopped it for now. Despite this, we continue to seek new outdoor event opportunities. We have also expanded internationally. We host events from the Netherlands and Germany to Thailand. Each event provides a fresh adventure and helps us connect with a global audience.
Tell us about a challenging event you’ve organized in the past.
One challenging event was an indoor version of our outdoor event. It was at a famous underground techno club. Lots of people came, but the security staff at the club weren’t very friendly to our crowd, which made things not so great for everyone. Even though it was a bit of a letdown, we kept trying new things and learning from our mistakes. We’re always working to improve our events and give our audience the best time possible. Each challenge we face helps us improve our actions, so our future events will be even more awesome.
How do you choose a lineup that connects with the audience in Belgium?
Belgium’s audience tends to like retro sounds. So, we ensure our line-ups include classic names. We also introduce fresh talent. The mix consists of familiar favorites and new acts. It creates a balanced and exciting experience for our attendees. It caters to many musical tastes. Our strategy involves careful research. We engage with the community to understand their preferences. We will curate line-ups that resonate deeply by staying connected to our audience. We will do this by listening to their feedback. Our events will create memorable experiences for all who attend.
Which platform do you use to sell your event tickets, and are you happy with them?
We used to manage our ticket sales platform, but it became outdated. Post-COVID, we switched to Triniq, which worked smoothly for us. Triniq offers an easy interface and reliable service. They make the ticket-buying process smooth for our attendees. The transition to Triniq has also allowed us to reach a wider audience and streamline ticket sales operations. We are delighted with the platform and appreciate the ease and efficiency it brings to our event management process.
How do you engage with your audience and promote your artists & events?
We often use Facebook and Instagram to connect with our audience and spread the word about our artists and events. These platforms help us reach many people and give us tools to interact with them. We make event pages on Facebook, share updates, and chat with our followers through comments and messages. Instagram is great for sharing cool pictures, flyers, and stories that show what our events and artists are all about. Besides online stuff, traditional promotion methods, like flyers and posters, are essential.
People still like getting something they can touch and see, so we use flyers and posters to remind people about our events. We put them up where many people can see them, which helps us reach even more folks who might not be on social media. We use both digital and traditional methods. They help us ensure everyone knows about our artists and events. They also keep our community buzzing with excitement.
What advice are you for new artists trying to make it in electronic music?
That’s a difficult one. First of all, the production needs to be good. But it’s not the only thing to consider. Try to be creative and original. And above all, try to find your sound. Not every track should sound the same, but it’s nice if people can recognize your work.
