Insomnia Electronic Music & Arts Festival is a three-day psychedelic trance festival at Parque de Campismo de São Gião in Oliveira do Hospital, central Portugal. The 2026 edition ran from 28 to 30 August, and the festival’s official Instagram lists the next edition for 27 to 29 August 2027.

When is Insomnia Festival 2027?
The festival’s official Instagram profile lists Insomnia Electronic Music & Arts Festival for 27 to 29 August 2027 in Portugal, with “Friendly Tickets” announced as coming soon. The official website still shows the 2026 information, so prices, the lineup and the ticket link for 2027 have not been published yet. Insomnia has run in late August in recent years, and the organisers usually announce artists in waves, with the timetable released one to two weeks before the event.
Where is Insomnia Festival held?
Insomnia takes place at Parque de Campismo de São Gião in São Gião, Oliveira do Hospital, roughly a 90-minute drive from Porto or Lisbon. From Lisbon or Porto, the official directions are to take the A1 to the Coimbra Norte exit, follow the IP3 towards Viseu, then the IC6 towards Covilhã and Oliveira do Hospital, and follow the festival arrows from the N17. The festival does not run official transport. Public coaches run to Oliveira do Hospital with Rede Expressos, and from there you need a taxi or other local transport.
Did Insomnia Festival 2026 go ahead?
Yes. The 2026 edition took place from 28 to 30 August, billed by the organisers as an edition dedicated to rebirth and a new cycle for the festival. Artists including Burn in Noise, Spinal Fusion and Goacenn posted thank-you messages and clips from the weekend on Instagram. The official timings were gates opening on 28 August at 09:00, the music programme ending on 30 August at 23:00, and the site closing on 31 August at 14:00.
Who played at Insomnia Festival 2026?
The official programme was split across three areas:
- Dance Gate: the main psytrance stage, with Astrix, Pixel, Tristan and GMS at the top of the bill, alongside Altruism, Burn in Noise, Spectra Sonics, Orestis, Penta, Dirty Saffi, Justin Chaos, Boom Shankar, 1200 Micrograms, Mandala, Spinal Fusion, Hypatia, Oxyflux, Amplify, Goacenn and many more. The sound system was Lambda Lab.
- Mystic Garden: a second stage with Sensient, Breger, Captain Pastek, Aka Nina, Extra Mind, Mannu Ferrantini, Charlie Sauce, Cajarana, Astralis and others.
- Therapy Island: a wellness and workshop area. The festival also promotes a Young Tribe Area for families.

How much did Insomnia Festival 2026 tickets cost?
The official ticket page listed a limited pre-sale, Friendly Ticket (€60) and Phase 1 (€80), all sold out, followed by Phase 2 at €95, Last Phase at €105 and gate tickets at €120, all with VAT included. There were no day tickets for Friday or Saturday, but a Sunday ticket cost €70 and became available from 23:50 on Saturday, if the festival was not sold out. Tickets were sold through the official site and Shotgun, and resale was allowed only through Shotgun Resale. TicketSwap is prohibited, and tickets bought there are not accepted at the entrance. Full-price 2027 tickets have not been announced.
Who can attend?
The general minimum age is 16. Under-16s can enter with a parent or responsible adult, and children under 14 enter free of charge. Alcohol can only be sold to and consumed by people aged 18 or over. A valid ID may be requested at the gate.
Can you camp at Insomnia Festival?
Yes. Camping is included in the full festival pass and needs no reservation. Access to the campsite starts at 09:00 on the first day, you cannot camp the day before, and you can stay until 14:00 on the last day. Open fires, gas stoves and glass are not allowed, animals are not allowed, and cooking is only permitted in designated grill areas. A designated Caravan Park is available, but parking spaces cannot be reserved. For a more comfortable stay, the external service Domo Camp offers pre-pitched tents and other options, booked separately at domo-camp.org.
Tips for a good Insomnia weekend
Arrive after gates open, since there is no pre-parking area, and expect queues on day one. Bring layers, because late-summer nights in the Portuguese interior can be cool after hot days, and carry a reusable bottle. Respect the campsite rules, leave no rubbish, and check the official channels for the timetable in the last week before the festival.
