What is Deep Research?
Deep Research is a built-in ChatGPT feature that automatically produces source-based, in-depth research reports. Instead of a short answer, the feature returns a well-structured document with detailed explanations, tables, charts, source-linked citations, and sometimes visual analyses.
You can launch it directly inside the chat by clicking the “Deep Research” button under the input box.
Availability
Deep Research is now open to all ChatGPT users, including the free tier.

Free plan: up to 5 research tasks per month (powered by the o4-mini model).

Deep Research New Features
OpenAI has added a “Download as PDF” button, letting you save research reports exactly as they appear in ChatGPT. Copy-pasting into Word or Google Docs used to break the layout, scramble tables, and drop links; the new feature fixes all of that.

Who can download PDFs today?
The PDF export is live for Plus, Team, and Pro subscribers. Enterprise and Education accounts don’t have it yet, but the rollout is “coming soon.”

Alongside PDF export, ChatGPT now offers three external connectors that dramatically expand research power:
